A quote is only cheap or dear compared with what it covers. AI can help you see what is in a quote, what is missing, and what to ask before you say yes.
The quote itself, a short description of the job, and ideally two more quotes for the same work. Leave out the builder’s name and your address when you type it in.
1. Open OPUP and type: “Help me check a builder’s quote for a new bathroom” (or whatever your job is), then type in what the quote lists and the price.
2. Ask: “What is usually included in a job like this that is missing here?”
3. Ask: “What questions should I ask so I can compare three quotes like for like?”
4. Ask it to turn the answers into a short list you can send to each builder.
5. When the replies come back, ask it to lay the three quotes side by side.
Whether it is a quote (a fixed price) or an estimate (a rough guess). What materials are included. Who gets rid of the waste. Whether VAT is included. How long the work will take, when payments are due, and what happens if extra work turns up.
It does not know local prices where you live and it cannot see the job. Do not rely on it for what the work “should” cost. Use it to make the quotes clear and comparable, and use real quotes from real tradespeople to judge the price.
